The Umaima Mustapha Feel

A few weeks ago, I was in Karachi after about 10 years. Excited as I was about exploring the city, I was also curious to see how it had grown in many dimensions. Being a shopper’s paradise, there was much to be discovered about fashion here too. Living in Islamabad keeps me away from many of Pakistan’s talked about innovative designers. And so, I had to make time to feed my passion for fashion.

Cramped with time I triumphantly made it to Umaima Mustapha’s outlet, and that too only 10 minutes before closing. It seemed I had entered paradise. No limitations on time could stop me from appreciating each and every beautiful outfit that stood there staring at me. I had to admit that the drapes were extraordinary. There was an extra oomph to every outfit. The detailing and the craftsmanship was exceptional.

It was as if I had been transported some eight years before time. The time when we used to embrace long, flowy silhouettes. And Umaima had come up with that trend again. Only this time with a lot more flattering and flawless look.

I have always been an admirer of fusion pret. Umaima’s collection depicted just that. The colour palette primarily included nudes and neutrals. Beautifully tailored, embellished with studs and beads. Using impeccable quality hardware such as belts and chains to make the collection look even more unconventional.

You surely cannot miss it if you are looking for something edgy, yet elegant.
